SomnoGuard Oral Appliance Therapy for Snoring & Mild-Moderate OSA

Snoring and Sleep Apnea are created by changes in the airway that typically develop over time, restricting the natural flow of air while you breathe. Normally it is caused by a narrowing of the airway at the base of the tongue. Oral Appliance Therapy has been recognized as a useful option to maintain an open airway by restricting the tongue’s rearward collapse during sleep by holding or advancing the lower jaw in a more forward position.

The FDA has recognized this option and most insurers to be a safe and effective option for many patients suffering from Mild to Moderate OSA (AHI <30) & Snoring. To qualify for Oral Appliance Therapy coverage, you will need to have a Sleep Study, either at home or in a facility-based Lab.

Oral Appliance Therapy also provides one of the most effective and affordable treatments for Snoring.

Oral Appliance Therapy is also a useful adjunct to other therapies/treatments such as CPAP for patients with severe OSA cases. We’re pleased to provide the SomnoGuard Oral Appliance as part of our comprehensive sleep practice.

The SomnoGuard utilizes advanced thermodynamic material to customize your specific Bite in a single, quick, and comfortable visit to our office. An assessment of your anatomy and particular symptoms and indications may warrant a Sleep Study if one has not been performed already. The SomnoGuard AP2 is a two-piece, adjustable, prefabricated appliance design to enable the lower jaw to be advanced forward. It’s positioned relative to the upper jaw, bringing the tongue and associated musculature forward, thus opening and stabilizing the upper airway. It also enables you to breathe through the mouth and move your jaw side to side to optimize comfort. The Elevo® Snoring Intervention Set contains three fully resorbable suture implants, which reduce the risk of extrusions that may occur with non-resorbable implants. The implants are composed of polydioxanone, which is non-antigenic and degrades into two endogenous substances to the body: lactic acid and water. The material is completely reabsorbed into the body within six months post-procedure.

The Elevo® Snoring Intervention Set is intended for stiffening the soft palate, which may reduce the severity of snoring in some individuals. It is indicated for symptomatic, chronic, and social snoring due to palatal flutter.

Effective procedure

After the lifting and stiffening action created in the soft palate, patients experienced a 30.3% reduction in sVAS at 180 days post-procedure.

SleepImage - Home Sleep Testing

SleepImage is cleared by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for the diagnosis and management of sleep disordered breathing. SleepImage is considered Software as a Medical Device (SaMD), which the FDA defines as “software intended to be used for one or more medical purposes…without being part of a hardware medical device.” SleepImage software is most commonly used with the SleepImage Ring as the hardware device, but it is compatible with other hardware devices.

The SleepImage Ring is simple to use and comfortable to wear without compromising output quality, making it a suitable choice for people who prefer not to use at-home tests that require many different components.

During the sleep study, the user’s raw physiological data is streamed from the ring to a mobile app which then uploads the data to the SaMD, where the data is analyzed and auto-scored. The extensive data can be reviewed by the reading physician, interpreted, and manually scored for diagnosis of obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) and central sleep apnea (CSA). The SleepImage system can be used in children over the age of 2 and adults.
